Audio drama (オーディオドラマ, ōdiodorama, also called radio drama (ラジオドラマ, rajiodorama), drama cd (ドラマCD, dorama CD), or cassette book (カセットブック, kasetto bukku), depending on the release platform) is a dramatized, purely acoustic performance. With no visual component, audio drama depends on dialogue, music and sound effects to help the listener imagine the characters and story: "It is auditory in the physical dimension but equally powerful as a visual force in the psychological dimension." Audio drama includes plays specifically written for radio, docudrama, dramatized works of fiction, as well as plays originally written for the theatre, including musical theatre, and opera.
Several Forcelia-related audio drama have been released over the years. Each Forcelia franchise—Record of Lodoss War, Crystania, Sword World and Louie the Rune Soldier have had at least one audio drama adaptation.
