Carson (カーソン, Kāson) is a Kanon native and a knight of its Order of the Green Forest Knights. He lives in a village near the Nazaar Mountains. He is in a secret relationship with Shana, a Marmo native appointed as governor of the village.

History[]

Carson was in his early twenties when his kingdom was conquered by Marmo. By the time of the events of Record of Lodoss War: The Kings’ Holy War, in NRC 515, he is in his late twenties and lives in an (unnamed) village near the Nazaar Mountains. There, he works on the field, but a significant portion of his and his fellow villagers harvests go to Marmo.

The governor of the village is Shana, with whom Carson has a secret relationship. When Marmo, through Shana, demand from Carson to relinquish even more of their harvest to Marmo, Carson tells Shana this is not possible. Arguably due to being in a relationship, Shana does not press further. Eventually, Shana's position comes under threat because the village, under her leadership, isn't profitable enough to Marmo. She decides to score prestige with the Marmo Council by trying to deal with some mountain bandits that have been plagueing the area. She takes some men with her, among them Carson, but they get soundly beaten by the bandits, who, at the time, were aided by Parn, Deedlit, Slayn, Maar and Hobb. During the fight, Carson recognizes one of the mountain bandits Reona, the Prince of Kanon who had gone missing ten years prior.

When Carson and Shana return to the village, they learn Shana has been replaced by Lognar, a dark priest of Phalaris. He takes Shana prisoner and sends his manticore, Skrang, to spy on Carson. When Carson goes into the mountains to request help from Prince Reona and the mountain bandits, he inadvertently informs Skrang, and thus Lognar, of Reona's return. Reona sees no other option than to prepare for battle against Lognar. Carson, Parn and the others go ahead. Just outside the village, they are spotted by Skrang. Together with Parn, Carson kills the creature. Their fight attracts Lognar and the others, and a battle ensues. When it looks like Parn, Carson and the others are losing momentum, Reona returns and kills Lognar.

Following the battle, both Carson and Shana resign as knights and make their relationship public. They take the people of the village to find refuge in Flaim.
