The Wizard’s Ambition (魔導師の野望, madōshi no yabō) is the eleventh episode in the 1990 anime series.

Summary[]

Back at Flaim, Deedlit and Parn begin to realise their feelings for each other, which makes Shiris jealous. Later Orson accuses Shiris of getting "with" Parn. Shiris admonishes Orson for being so insensitive rather than understanding her sensitivity after years of being companions. King Kashue receives news that Marmo seems to be pulsing with energy. Elsewhere in Flaim, Ashram has survived the collapse of Fire Dragon Mountain. Strangely enough, Karla is with him at the bottom of the mountain and tells him to return to Marmo as all Lodoss will go there as Wagnard will attempt to gain Kardis' power. As the heroes have gathered, Kashue tasks Parn to deliver a message to the country of Moss to gain more allies to counter the threat of Marmo. Deedlit surmises that someone on Marmo must have the Scepter of Domination. Kashue explains that Kardis is said to reside underground in Marmo. Shiris expresses that she wants no part in this and as she and Orson leave she warns that it will be unlikely to garner allies, as Kashue's army will be thought of as outsiders.

In Marmo, Wagnard gains immense power from the scepter and travels out to kidnap the high elf Deedlit in order to resurrect Kardis. Slayn, Leylia, Shiris and Orson notice the dark magic over Parn's location and rush to investigate. Wagnard attacks Deedlit and Parn breaks his sword against Wagnard's magic. Using the power of Kardis, Wagnard subdues Parn and takes Deedlit. Parn reawakens, having been spirited away by Orson and Shiris. Those two later volunteer to deliver Kashue's request to Prince Jester in Moss, while Parn rushes off to try to rescue Deedlit. He is joined by Slayn, Leylia and Etoh, who presents King Fahn's sword, the Holy Sword, on behalf of Princess Fiannia, to Parn. Elsewhere, Ashram and Kashue's army make their ways towards Marmo.
