The Foundations of War is the second episode of the fifth Chronicles of the Heroic Knight manga volume and the twenty-fifth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
One band of Marmo troops led by the dark elf Pirotess are battling Valis. They've succesfully crossed the Fargo river and will now make for Roid. Marmo's main force, led by Ashram, is expected to follow. King Etoh fears he may have to use the Sacred Warrior spell.[1] When King Kashue learns of this, he considers burning the city of Alan, to quicken his victory of Duke Raster, so he can aid Etoh faster. A difficult decision for Kashue, as Alan has the longest history of all of Lodoss, and all its buildings were made by dwarves and patterned after the architecture of Kastuul.[2]
In the Kanon free army camp, Parn, Spark, Leaf, and Deedlit have returned from succesfully defeating two Marmo provisions caravans. When Leaf is alone with Deedlit, they talk about their relationships with Parn and Spark. When Spark is alone with Leaf, he wonders what came of Garrack and the others. Leaf believes they're fine.[3]
Somewhere on the sea, on a part of the wrecked ship, are Garrack and the others, except Aldonova.[4]
