Parn Captured is the fifth episode of The Fire Demon and the fifth and final episode of the first volume of The Fire Demon manga series.
Synopsis[]
Parn and Nardia begin their duel. Parn underestimates Nardia's strength and as a result loses his sword when he tries to deflect an incoming strike. He uses his arm to hold off another incoming strike, much to Nardia's surprise. Parn then jumps straight at the startled Nardia, pushing her off her horse. With Parn on top of her Nardia seemingly admits defeat, but when Parn assumes the battle is over Nardia throws sand in Parn's eyes and orders her troops to capture Parn alive.[1] Suddenly, Azumo fires a fire attack at Parn, knocking him out.[2]
King Kashue was defeated and the people of the country of Flaim began feeling uneasy. In Akroyd castle Kashue's army begins preparations for a counter-attack. Kashue tells Shadam he is worried about Parn. Kashue believes Parn is crucial to Lodoss because he will defeat Karla. Deedlit is relieved to hear that, even though Parn was captured, Kashue believes he is still alive. Deedlit vows to rescue Parn. Parn's party, Marsh, Pseudo and Deni, offer her their help.[3]
Meanwhile, Parn has recovered from his injuries. Nardia still believes Parn is a holy knight of Valis and tells Parn she does not want to fight with Valis. Moreover, it's a civil war and Valis does not need to interfere. Finally, once this war is over and won by the Fire tribe, Nardia intends to develop a good relationship with Valis. She offers Parn a chance to return to Valis and tell Fianna of this.[4] Parn decides to admit he is not a holy knight of Valis, but points out Flaim's good relations with Valis. He also points out the Fire tribe's history of betrayal. Nardia, agitated, tells Parn the Wind tribe are the actual traitors, because they sealed Ifrit 500 years ago.[5] Parn is confused and doesn't know what to believe anymore.
Just outside Hilt Deedlit, Marsh, Pseudo and Deni try to sneak inside the city using the using an underground canal.[6] Inside Hilt, Nardia wonders why Parn decided to be honest about his not being a Valis holy knight and get away. Azumo learns Nardia wanted to sacrifice Parn to Ifrit. Parn wants to find out the truth about the history of the tribes and Deedlit and her party have entered Hilt.[7]
