The Way of Life is the eighth episode of the Legend of Crystania manga and the third episode of the second tankōban in the Legend of Crystania manga series.
Synopsis[]
The swan introduces herself to Redon; she is the Great White Swan, Fuji. Redon is shocked to discover that the symbol of his kingdom has always been an animal god of Crystania. He asks why a god of Crystania would get involved with a foreigner like himself and not her own people. Fuji replies her people have all died, and begins explaining her history with Da’nan: at a meeting of the animal gods it was agreed that Fuji's people would be struck by a great calamity, as part of the Cycle. Fuji did not want to see her people suffer, so she separated her land from The Gods’ Wall and returned it to the height of the ocean.[1] However, her people then fell victim to an epidemic that they otherwise would have been protected from and they all died. Two hundred years later a sailing ship drifted nearby Crystania, and Fuji, in her form of a white swan, guided the ship to Da’nan. The people on that ship are the ancestors of the people who live in Da’nan today.[2]
Fuji led Redon to Crystania, because she believed his and her wishes are the same. Redon has the power to change things, a spark that defies the odds. She then vanishes and leaves behind Lord Haven's sword for Redon.[3] Redon decides to stop being sad and accept his new life in Crystania. He will figure out what it is he has to do here, and do it. Moments later, Redon is suddenly reunited with his horse Grambia as well.[4]
Rome has engaged in a duel with Kwairde for Aderishia. Having transformed in his animal form of a bear, he is able to withstand Kwairde's stabs with a knife. Suddenly, Sheru arrives and knocks Rome down. When Redon and Nasare arrive as well, Rome decides to leave.[5] Sheru explains Rome is one of the sealers and they view everything that does not originally come from Crystania, either good or bad, as a disturbance. They will not give up until they have sealed the disturbance.[6]
Redon asks Sheru if she knows where Barbas is. Sheru answers he resides in Dayton castle in Beldia. Redon wants Sheru to take him with her. Elsewhere, a certain Garudi has learned of Rome's failure to seal Aderishia and he decides to take matters in his own hands.[7] Boakes and Jenoba are searching for Redon and the others, but have difficulties finding them. Raifan still can't sense the presence of the spirits. She and Obier decide to head to Beldia, just like Redon and others.[8]
