Garudi (ガルディ, Garudi) is a man from the Berudia region of Crystania and a follower of the evil animal god Barbas. He appears in both the movie and the 3-part OVA series.
History[]
Garudi is from Berudia, a region in Crystania that is ruled by the Gods' King Barbas. Being a follower of Barbas, Garudi has the ability to morph in a sabretooth tiger.
Garudi, along with Muha, another of Barbas' followers, are in search of a dark elf who goes by the name of Sheru. Their search leads them to a village occupied by Fang of the Animal, a group that opposes Barbas. Together with Rio Garudi attacks the village and takes Aderishia, Raifan, Kwairde and Boakes captive.
When Redon and Sheru attempt to sneak into Dayton Castle they are spotted by Garudi. He tries to take Sheru, but is thwarted by Boakes, Raifan and Kwairde. He duels with Boakes, while the others head to the throne room where Barbas (in Ashram's body) resides. Garudi has the upper hand in the fight and is about to kill Boakes. Elsewhere in the castle Barbas unleashes all his power to fight off Ashram and Redon's group and the power causes the castle to crumble. Stones fall down the castle breaking through roofs, walls and floors, leaving large and sometimes deep holes. Before he could kill Boakes, Garudi slips and falls in one of the holes. He is not seen again for some time. Redon's group manage to defeat Barbas using a Chaos Ring.
After his defeat, Barbas tries to resurrect and his former followers try to aid him. Garudi wipes out a village of Chaos Ring users and destroys all the chaos rings, so that Barbas could not be defeated again. One ring and one user, Yoof, escaped the onslaught. Garudi and his men were tasked by Muha to sound the Bell of Awakening, which would awaken Barbas, but reports come in of people crystalizing upon touching the bell, something Muha hadn't informed him of. Eventually an outsider, who is unaffected by the curse placed on the Bell, sounds the Bell and Barbas is awakened. After Barbas' awakening he does battle with the God Killing Dragon Lord. From the ground, Garudi roots for his God but is pierced by a large pillar-shaped rock falling from Barbas' floating throne room. The pillar has the image of Muha, who apparently was killed by Barbas sometime before this.
