The Scepter of Domination
The Governor’s Treasures (太守の秘宝, taishu no hihō) are five treasures from the ancient kingdom of Kastuul placed under the protection of the five chromatic dragons by Kastuul's final governor Saluvan. The dragons succesfully protected the treasures for many centuries, but after five hundred years most of the treasures were either stolen or destroyed in the span of few decades.
The treasures[]
Ferronnière of Knowledge[]
The Ferronnière of Knowledge (知識の額冠, chishiki no gaku kanmuri) contains all the wisdom of the past ages. It was kept on Marmo where it was guarded by Narse.
Mirror of Truth[]
The Mirror of Truth (真実の鏡, shinjitsu no kagami) is capable of answering any question, even those of the future. It was kept in the White Dragon Mountains in Alania where it was guarded by Bramd. In the year 473 NRC Neese released Bramd from Saluvan's curse and was given the treasure, which was then used to restore the Temple of Marfa.[1] That same year the treasure is stolen by Karla.[2]
Scepter of Domination[]
The Scepter of Domination (支配の王錫, shihai no ō shaku) was said to be the most powerful artefact in existence, and granted the wielder the power of absolute rule. Thus when the ancient kingdom fell, the most powerful dragon in Lodoss, the "Demon Dragon" Shooting Star, was charged with guarding it. The Scepter of Domination remained in the dragon's possession, safely protected in the volcanic Fire Dragon Mountain for over 500 years. However, the scepter was stolen when the Demon Dragon was slain, and the artefact was lost in the fiery crater of Fire Dragon Mountain.
The Scepter of Domination was created by the blacksmith Barrindo.
Soul Crystal Ball[]
The Soul Crystal Ball (魂の水晶球, tamashī no suishō-kyū) is capable of resurrecting the dead. It was kept at Blue Dragon Island where it was guarded by Abram.
Staff of Life[]
The Staff of Life (生命の杖, seimei no tsue) is capable of healing any wound and illness. It was kept in the Alborra Mountains of Moss where it was guarded by Mycen.
Notes[]
- In the 1995 SNES videogame Record of Lodoss War Neese releases Bramd from his curse about the time of the War of Heroes (510 NRC). Bramd offers Neese the treasure, but she declines, thinking the treasure is safer with Bramd.[3]
