Jiba

Jiba (ジバ, Jiba) was a dark elf and a servant of Wagnard. He appears exclusively in the Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight manga. A character with the same appearance, but with a different name, Jay, briefly appears in the Chronicles of the Heroic Knight anime.

　Being born a twin, dark elves enerally never survived to see their first birthday. Jiba was cursed to share a soul. In desperation, his mother brought him and his sister to the sorcerer Wagnard to plea for him to help her some how. Wagnard agreed, as he felt he could find some use for these children. Using demonic magic, he bound the twins’ soul to the stronger child, the boy, with a demon’s soul, while the girl was sacrificed. However, her identity remained imprinted on young Jiba, and she developed as a separate personality.

　Jiba grew up into a chaotic and twisted individual, and a powerful shaman. In battle, he could summon his demonic sister, who emerged from his back as an ethereal form with feathered wings and insect-like appendages. With her, he became a more powerful shaman and more formidable opponent.

　Jiba was used to kidnap Little Neese for Wagnard’s sacrifice to Kardis, and waged battle with Spark and his comrades. He assisted in the resurrection of Kardis, because he wanted to be reborn in a new world where he and his sister could live separately, as Wagnard promised. He failed in the end, but when Marfa was resurrected, she took pity on him, and reformed his soul. Jiba’s soul was purified, and his body reduced to a baby again so he could start a new life.
