Louie the Rune Soldier (novel series)

Louie the Rune Soldier (魔法戦士リウイ, mahō senshi riui) is a light novel series written by Ryo Mizuno and published by Fujimi Shobo. It follows Louie, an apprentice magician from the kingdom of Orphan on the continent of Alecrast. He joins a party of three young women—Merrill, Genie and Melissa—on an adventure ignited by a revelation from the god of war, Myrii. It is part of the Sword World setting.

In 1999 Louie the Rune Soldier was adapted into a manga series. In 2016 a second manga adaptation began publication. In 2001 the novel series was adapted into an anime series. The anime series was released in the west under the title “Rune Soldier.”
