Louie the Rune Soldier in the Kingdom of Swords (魔法戦士リウイ 剣の国の魔法戦士) is a Japanese light novel written by Ryo Mizuno. It was the first novel released in the Rune Soldier series. The first edition, with illustrations by Satoshi Shiki was released in 1993 as part of the Sword World Novel series, titled Sword World Novel Rune Soldier in the Kingdom of Swords (ソード・ワールド・ノベル剣の国の魔法戦士). When Mamoru Yokota became the main illustrator for the series with the release of the second novel, a new version of the first novel was released in 2001 with illustrations by Yokota. The title of the novel was (slightly) changed to Louie the Rune Soldier in the Kingdom of Swords.
