Nasher (ナシェル, Nasheru) is the main character of the Legend of Lodoss light novels. A prince of the duchy of Skard, he fought in the Demon War as a general who led the Hundred Heroes, but due to Karla's machinations was lost to history.

History[]

Nasher was born in Skard, a small, somewhat isolated duchy in the south of Moss. The oldest child of Duke Bruuk and Duchess Eliza, Nasher was destined to succeed his father as ruler of the duchy one day. Nasher had a younger half-sister Reena, from Duchess Natasia.

Nasher possessed exceptional talent, which was spotted at a young age. His father invited the sorcerer Wort and the mercenary Beld, renowned throughout Lodoss as a great sorcerer and great warrior respectively, to train Nasher. They too spotted Nasher's talent at a glance.

When Nasher was fifteen years old, he and his family were visited by Princess Elanta of “Dragon Flame” Harken. The Princess seemed particularly interested in Nasher and occupied all of his time.[1] Feeling down because of this, his sister Reena ran away. Nasher went searching for her and managed to find her just in time to save her from a wolf.[2] Elanta wasn't pleased Nasher left her to look for his sister, and when she got back in Harken she lied that Nasher had slapped her.

In NRC 473, Nasher assumed control over the duchy of Skard, after his father and sister had not been heard from for about a month. Moreover, the Stone Kingdom, a dwarven settlement to the south, with which Skard had good relations, had also not been heard from for a similar amount of time. With a small detachment of troops, Nasher went to investigate the Stone Kingdom. There, he found King Flaibe fighting against creatures Nasher had never seen before; demons. They saved Flaibe and learned that he was his kingdom's last survivor. Everyone else had been killed by the demon army.

Having witnesses the strength of the demons first-hand, Nasher understood Skard stood no chance against the demons, if they were to invade Skard.
