The Sacred Weapons (聖具, sei-gu),[1] also three Sacred Weapons (三聖具, san sei-gu) were three armaments and ritual vessels of the Holy Kingdom of Valis. Once created by a man named Dereth, the “Father of the Holy King”, they have since been granted to the King of Valis by the Pharis sect. The three armaments were:
- Sword of Law (法の剣, hō no ken), or Lawful Blade (ローフルブレード, rōfuru burēdo)
- Armour of Justice (正義の鎧, seigi no yoroi) or Justice Coat (ジャスティスコート, jasutisu kōto)
- Shield of Light (光の楯, hikarinotate) or Light Reflector (ライトリフレクター, raito rifurekutā)
During the Demon War the Sacred Weapons were stolen by a doppelgänger in the guise of Fahn. Fahn was subsequently arrested, but given a chance to redeem himself by reclaiming the armaments alone. Fahn followed the doppelgänger demon to an old castle in the Valis marshlands. He managed to defeat the demon, barely surviving the encounter, and reclaim the armaments. Fahn used the armaments during the Demon Wars and in the final battle against the Demon King, whose regenerative powers struggled against hits from the Sword of Law. After the Demon King's death, it would take about thirty years before Fahn would equip the Sacred Weapons again, which was in his duel with Emperor Beld, during the War of Heroes.
Notes[]
- In the Record of Lodoss War OVA Fahn's sword is called the "Holy Sword" in the preview for episode 5.
- In the Lady of Pharis manga, the three weapons are simply called the sacred sword 聖剣, the sacred shield 楯 and the sacred armour 鎧.[1]
