Sword World Novel (ソード・ワールド, sōdo wārudo) is a light novel series written by various authors. The stories take place in the world of Forcelia, a setting originally created for tabletop role-playing games. In 1988 the first Sword World book, an RPG replay, was released: Sword World RPG Replay Collection 1: The Thieves’ Rhapsody, written by Hiroshi Yamamoto and illustrated by Takuhito Kusanagi. An RPG rules book was published in 1990. It's first non-replay novelization began in 1990, with the release of A Leprechaun’s Tears, the first novel in the Sword World Short Stories (ソード・ワールド短編集, sōdo wārudo tanhenshū) light novel series.
Besides the Short Stories series and the RPG replays, there was also the Sword World Novel (ソード・ワールド・ノベル, sōdo wārudo noberu) series, which feature longer stories spread over a number of books. The Sword World stories all take place in the world of Forcelia. In 2008, a new edition of Sword World was released called "Sword World 2.0", and the world of Forcelia was replaced by that of Raxia. It was revised in 2012. In 2018, Sword World 2.5 was launched. Since 2.0 and 2.5 do not take place in the world of Forcelia, the wiki doesn't cover them.
